Congratulations to our April – “My Brown Ballerina” of the Month, Eva Marie Tepper!

Eva Marie Tepper, resides in Peachtree Corners, GA. Dancing has been her passion since she was 2 years old. She states that dancing makes her feel alive! She leaves all of her love and passion on the dance floor and stage and can’t imagine her life otherwise.

Eva hasn’t faced many challenges in dance; however, she tends to be a bit anxious when auditioning. When she walks into a room and doesn’t see many people that look like her, she allows her confidence to take the lead. Eva shares that she doesn’t allow the pressure of being the minority in the room affect her performance. While growing up, she shares that there weren’t many ballerinas that looked like her and this gave her the realization and drive to work even harder. She is striving to be the role model she didn’t have. The women in her family are who she has looked up to. They have been able to teach her many things just by observing them. She would love to see more brown/dark skin girls represented in the world of ballet and to see more of us in commercials, tours and films. Eva feels that it would be remarkable and inspiring.

Eva’s next performance will be a spring production called “Grace Wings”. May 27th at the Ray Charles Theatre. Tickets are available at: http://www.myareaatlanta.com. She may be contacted at:  evamarie.tepper@gmail.com. Her social media: @evamarie.pointe.
